Did you know Melanin, the aromatic bio polymer and organic semiconductor responsible for human skin tone, the color of Black cats, Angus cattle, crickets and crows has a dollar value? It does. When we first looked into the dollar value of melanin it was listed as $353 a gram.

At $419 a gram melanin is worth more than gold, silver, platinum, palladium, rhodium, and coltan. A gram of gold is $39.27. Melanin is worth over $380 a gram more than gold. An ounce of gold is priced at $1,322.30 while an ounce of melanin is worth $13,408. A pound of melanin is worth $214,528. A kilo of gold is $42,512.90 but a kilogram of melanin is worth $419,000. Three kilos of melanin is worth $1,257,000. Knowing melanin is worth over $380 a gram more than gold can lead to an elevated sense of self esteem, self worth and healing from the emotional and psychological effects of the maafa which we refer to as Mchakato wa Uponyaji (the process of healing.)
On a global scale, the dollar value of melanin is causing a quantum shift in awareness, perception and power. The shift is not occurring for everyone, however. There must be a willingness to grow. Be aware there is an awareness beyond the present state. Realize there are perceptions yet to be perceived. Let go of limitations.
Those unwilling to do so will never know how evolution left them behind. The dollar value of melanin lets us know all we have is potential.
The melanin being sold comes from the ink of Sepia Officinalis, a cephalopod. Cephalopods like squids, octupus and cuttlefish squirt melanin loaded ink from their sacs as a smoke screen to camouflage their escape from predators.
