At least 13 shot or hurt in NYC by man wearing gas mask, construction vest


On the northbound N train line in Brooklyn, at least 13 people were shot or injured by shrapnel on different subway stops Tuesday morning.


A manhunt for a gunman wearing a gas mask and an orange construction vest is currently underway.


At least four of the corpses were discovered shortly before 8:30 a.m. at the 36th Street subway station in Sunset Park and another at the 25th Street station in Greenwood Heights.


It was unclear whether the shootings occurred on the train or in the stations at the time.


During the shootings, a potential smoke device was also employed.


Police investigated up to four parcels that were initially suspected of being suspicious, but were ultimately proved to be false.


The victims were sent to Maimonides Medical Center, Kings County Hospital, and other medical facilities.


The suspect was described as a 5-foot-5 black man weighing between 175 and 180 pounds.


There have been no arrests.


According to an FBI official, they are aiding NYPD and it is unknown whether there is any link to terrorism at this time, but FBI headquarters is keeping an eye on things.

The power to the N and R lines has been turned off as police search for the suspect.


Mayor Eric Adams is keeping an eye on the situation from City Hall, but owing to his new COVID diagnosis, he is unable to reply. Governor Kathy Hochul has also been briefed, according to her.
